Moonlighters – Natalie Paramore
9-5 I am working as a healthcare policy analyst. That entails everything from me reviewing legislation to evaluating program performance to heading up our internal communications and coordinating policy and IT projects… whew! That was a mouthful!
I moonlight as an unofficial kitchen queen and photographer extraordinaire on my blog Food Fetish.
I have always loved to cook. When I was little, I would watch cooking shows instead of cartoons. Growing up, we ate out almost every night, so cooking is not something I grew up learning in my home. I am 100% self-taught. I love cooking because it is like an adventure for me. I love experimenting!
My job can be pretty intense and heavy, so cooking allows me to have a creative outlet. I started documenting my culinary adventures via Twitter. Then it got to point that my friends kept asking me for the recipes, so I decided to start a blog to keep track of everything. One thing led to another and here I am now! My blog is by far one the best and most fun things I have ever done.
It is a huge time commitment, I won’t lie about that. I have made so many friends and have had so many fun opportunities, I wouldn’t trade it for the world. Nothing worth having is ever easy. It is also really cool to see how much I have grown since the beginning. All my accomplishments and trials are out there for everyone to see. Being vulnerable can be scary, but seeing how far I’ve come is priceless, and only makes me work even harder to achieve more.
Absolutely! That would be my ultimate dream. I have bootstrapped my blog every step of the way, and my heart is in every piece. I am constantly trying to improve. One day I will get there!
I am analytical by nature and constantly seeking new opportunities to learn, so I think my card would say: Natalie Paramore, Strategist. And that’s it. I love to collaborate and help grow projects of all kinds, but particularly those having to do with food!
